Susan
P. Bakalar, Esq.
Ms. Bakalar,
a shareholder in the Firm received her Juris Doctor from
the University of Denver in 1990 and her Masters of Law
(LLM) in Real Property from the University of Miami in
1991. Ms. Bakalar was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1991.
Initially establishing her practice in Miami, Ms. Bakalar
represented commercial clients in their collection and
legal needs with an emphasis on the collection of delinquent
maintenance assessments through the filing of Claims of
Lien and subsequent foreclosure actions. Ms. Bakalar moved
her practice to Broward County in 1993 and tailored the
practice to representation of Condominium and Homeowner
Associations located in the Dade Broward Palm Beach areas.
Ms. Bakalar is a section member of the Real Property,
Probate and Trust Law, General Practice Solo and Small
Firm, and Entertainment and Sports Law Sections of the
Florida Bar. Ms. Bakalar is a member of the Community
Associations Institute (CAI) and the Attorneys' Title
Insurance Fund, Inc.
Martin S. Rosenbloom,
Esq.
Martin S. Rosenbloom, Esq., an associate member of the
Firm, graduated from Buffalo State College in 1971 with
a degree in exceptional children education. After teaching
mentally challenged students for several years, he served
as Consumer Advocate for the NYS Association for Retarded
Children, Inc., Erie County Chapter, advising and assisting
parents secure the rights and benefits to which their
disabled children were entitled. He also assisted the
agency in developing the first group homes for mentally
retarded children in the Buffalo, New York area.
Mr. Rosenbloom received his law degree from Nova University
Law Center in 1981. He was admitted to The Florida Bar
and to the Federal District Court for the Southern District
of Florida in 1981. He began his legal career exclusively
representing condominium and homeowner associations in
South Florida. Later, his practice included the representation
of real estate developers and the drafting of condominium,
time-share and homeowner association documents. In 1988,
Mr. Rosenbloom opened his own law practice in Broward
County, focusing primarily on real estate, probate and
guardianship matters. Mr. Rosenbloom has represented
several not-for-profit corporations in the acquisition,
licensing and operation of properties as group homes
for persons with developmental disabilities. Mr. Rosenbloom
was appointed by Governor Martinez and Governor Chiles
as the attorney member of the Human Rights Advocacy Committee
for District 10, Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative
Services, Developmental Services Program.
Since joining Bakalar & Associates, P.A., Mr. Rosenbloom
has been practicing probate law throughout the State
of Florida, with an emphasis on resolving real estate
title problems involving decedents’ estates in
addition to providing legal counsel to Condominium and
Homeowner Associations. Mr. Rosenbloom is a member of
the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section and
the Elder Law Sections of the Florida Bar and serves
as a member of Disability Law Committee of The Florida
Bar.
Carol A. Strauss,
Esq.
Carol A. Strauss,
Esq., an associate member of the Firm, graduated from
The University of Florida in 1994 with a B.A. in Speech
Communication. She later enrolled in Nova Southeastern
University, Shepard Broad School of Law where she received
her Juris Doctor and was admitted to the Florida Bar
in 2000. Upon admission to the Bar, Ms. Strauss began
her practice of law in South Florida with a focus on
Plaintiff’s Personal Injury. Ms. Strauss has concentrated
her practice of the law on Community Association and
Real Estate Law. In addition, Ms. Strauss has acted as
General Counsel for a growing local company since 2005.
As a part of the Bakalar and Associates, team Ms. Strauss
advises and represents Condominium and Homeowner Associations
with their collection and general legal needs.
Shantrell L. Lewis, Esq.
Shantrell L. Lewis graduated from The
University of South Florida in 1997, with a B.A. in English,
with an emphasis on Professional and Technical Writing.
She obtained her law degree from St. Thomas University;
she was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2002 and the Washington,
DC bar in 2005. Ms. Lewis’ professional background
has been concentrated primarily in the area of Family
Law; however, she has experience with nonprofit organizations
as well. After being admitted to the Florida bar, Ms.
Lewis worked as an Assistant State Attorney for Miami-Dade,
in the Child Support Enforcement Division, which focuses
on establishing paternity, child support enforcement and
modification, and related issues. In 2005, Ms. Lewis moved
to the Washington, DC metro area and joined the staff
of UNCF Special Programs Corporation, a nonprofit organization.
She worked within The Division of Science and Technology,
which manages several internship and fellowship programs
that are designed for the advancement of minorities in
these fields. Since moving back to Miami in 2007, Ms.
Lewis has worked as a Contract Attorney, focusing on Civil
Litigation matters, in Miami-Dade and Broward County.
Samuel Landol Jr. Esq.
Samuel Landol Jr. Esq., received his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts. While at Suffolk University Law School, Mr. Landol served on the executive board of the Latin American Law School Association as Treasurer. He also participated in S.U. Clinica Legal, an urban legal clinic in East Boston, assisting indigent tenants with landlord-tenant disputes.
Mr. Landol was admitted to the Florida Bar and the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Florida in 2003. He subsequently began his legal career with a small Ft. Lauderdale- based firm in the representation of individual Bankruptcy debtors filing Chapter Seven and Chapter Thirteen bankruptcies in the Miami, Ft Lauderdale, and Palm Beach areas.
Mr. Landol, a Senior Associate with the Firm has been representing Condominium and Homeowner Associations since 2005. As counsel for numerous community associations throughout the state of Florida, his practice has focused on contract review, drafting and amending governing documents, collection and foreclosures, covenant enforcement, drafting legal opinions and assisting his association clients with the daily operation and administration of their communities.
Kevin M. Kennedy, Esq.
Kevin M. Kennedy, Esq. is an associate with the firm. Mr. Kennedy graduated with Honors from the University of Miami in 2004, where he received his B.A. in English Literature. In May 2008, he obtained his Juris Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University and was admitted to the Florida Bar in October 2008. While attending Nova, Mr. Kennedy was asked to join the Moot Court Honor Society after competing in the Feinrider 1L Competition, where he finished as a semifinalist among approximately one hundred first year law student competitors. Mr. Kennedy also won a position to compete for Nova’s Moot Court Society at the Cardozo/BMI Entertainment and Communications Law Moot Court Competition in New York during his second year. As a law student, Mr. Kennedy had the opportunity to complete internships in Land Use and Environmental Law at several of South Florida’s most prestigious law firms. Mr. Kennedy participates as a coach in Nova’s Florida Bar Auxiliary Program, which pairs coaches with students to assist students with obtaining the best results when studying for and taking the Florida Bar Exam. This successful program has seen Nova’s graduates consistently rank among the top three schools in Bar passage percentage since its inception. Mr. Kennedy is a member of the Broward and Hillsborough County Bar Associations and focuses his practice on assisting Condominium and Homeowner’s Associations with matters ranging from collections and foreclosures to researching and assisting with general legal issues.
Cory B. Kravit,
Esq.
Cory B. Kravit concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate litigation and real estate transactions, landlord/tenant disputes, collections, and commercial litigation. Cory has extensive experience in the representation of condominium and homeowners associations. Cory is a member of the Florida Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
Cory attended the University of Florida and received his Bachelor's degree in Political Science with honors in 2002. After an internship with former Congressman E. Clay Shaw, he earned his Juris Doctor degree from Stetson University College of Law in 2005. At the University of Florida, Cory was a member of Florida Blue Key and was awarded the William G. Cross Leadership Award. At Stetson University, Cory was awarded the Student Bar Association Student of the Year Award and the William F. Blews Pro Bono Service Award for his commitment to the Youth Court program.
In 2001, Cory's testimony before members of the United States House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee regarding the misuse of Social Security numbers on university campuses led to nationwide attention of student identity theft issues and the University of Florida completely revamping its student identification database system. Cory currently serves as the President of the Palm Beach County Young Republicans, Committeeman of the Palm Beach County Republican Executive Committee and Co-President of the Palm Beach County Gator Club which was recently recognized as one of the Most Outstanding Gator Clubs, in part, for raising over $120,000 in scholarships for graduating high school seniors from Palm Beach County. Cory is a native of Florida and lives with his fiancé.
Lawrence Weiner,
Esq.
Mr. Weiner,
an of counsel attorney to the Firm graduated with honors
from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania
in 1964 majoring in accounting with minors in both finance
and insurance. He then attended the University of Pennsylvania
Law School where he graduated with honors in 1967 and
served as an editor of the Law Review. Mr. Weiner was
admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1967 and the Florida
Bar in 1969. Since 1971, Mr. Weiner has been practicing
Law in South Florida.
Since 1971 Mr.
Weiner has been engaged in general representation of owners
and executives of closely held business enterprises and
professional practices with responsibility for direct
handling of any and all legal matters affecting the business
enterprise, professional practice, individuals, and members
of their families. Such representation includes preparation
of Wills, Trusts, Estates (planing and administration),
Taxation, Real Estate (purchases, sales, leases and mortgages),
Commercial Transactions (including loan and security agreements),
Corporate Law, Non-Profit Corporations and Associations
(formation and operation). Additionally, from1983-1989,
Mr. Weiner was a partner in a Law Firm representing the
largest local mortgage lender in South Florida.
